In this work that i do, I work with couples of all paths, traditions, and beliefs.
Today’s modern couple is shapeshifting the ritual of a wedding ceremony.
This happens with every generation and here are 3 things I see as I work with my couples in 2025:
- More couples are standing with their Officiant, alone. If they have a wedding party, the members of the wedding party take their seats after they process down the aisle. This offers a couple the opportunity for the ceremony to be focused on them, and still allow an honoring of their closest people.
- Fur baby! More and more couples are including their dogs in their wedding ceremonies. Woof, woof!
- Couples are opting to exchange private and personal formal vows, before or after their wedding ceremony, NOT during their wedding ceremony. Instead, they may opt for a short ‘n sweet set of formal vows within their ceremony, AND they keep their most personal thoughts and words as PRIVATE – to be exchanged before, (perhaps first look?), or when they retire to their room after their celebration and/or reception.
As I am fond of saying to all of my couples this year, and in past years, ‘Darlings, you do you.’
